Hoje fui fazer o Arranco e Arremesso antes do treino normal e coloquei umas tipo palmilhas gel que eu tenho pra aumentar a altura do calcanhar.

Q: How were you introduced to weightlifting?
L: I started to train in weightlifting when I was 11 years old so that means I’ve trained weightlifting for almost 17 years. Of course my parents support me completely.
Q: Who first told you about weightlifting?
L: Before I started lifting I was in gymnastics, which was my first sport. But one WL coach met me and asked me to start WL and I followed that coach. So I followed that coach into WL.
Q: Which part of China are you from?
L: Xiantao, a little city of the Hubei Province of China.
Q: When did you move from that province for weightlifting?
L: I moved from the city in 2000 for the provincial team. And then I moved to the national team in Beijing in 2007, just before the Olympics.
Q: What were your best results when you were on the provincial team, before the national team?
L: My best result was snatch more than 140kg. Clean and jerk was more than 180kg.
Q: So you trained for the provincial team from 2000-2007. Who was your coach? Was it one coach the whole time?
L: Yu Jie. He also moved to the national team.
Q: So you’ve known Yu Jie since you were 13?
L: I know him in 2002. There was another coach in the province.
Q: Was Yu Jie a well known coach in China before he coached you?
L: Yes, he was well known in China before he moved to the national team.
Q: Now I’ll ask some questions about your training. How many times a week do you train when you’re at the national training center?
L: More than two hours every afternoon, from Monday to Saturday.
Q: So never in the morning? Have you even done morning training?
L: Of course before I moved to national team, when I was a lifter in provincial team, I would train more—morning, evening, morning, evening.
Q: So the national team team trains less. Why?
L: Because after I moved to national team I saw I had enough of a foundation, I don’t need to train more.
Q: Is that the case for all national team lifters, or just coach Yu’s athletes, or just you?
L: It’s only me and Lu Xiaojun.
Q: Is it just because you’re older? Does Tian Tao train more?
L: Yes, age is a reason.
Q: How often do you train the competition lifts, snatch and clean and jerk? Do you do a day of only snatch and a day of only clean and jerk?
L: I do one day for snatch and one day for clean and jerk.
Q: Do you ever do both in one session?
L: Just before a competition I will combine both lifts. I will combine the lifts once a week, two weeks from a competition.
Q: What about squatting? How often do you do front squat versus back squat? How do you combine the two in your training?
L: In a normal week of training from Monday to Sunday, on Monday we will train action skill. Tuesday we will train front squat. Wednesday, we will train clean and jerk. Then Thursday maybe will do something relaxing. Then Friday is back squat.
Q: So you front squat and back squat once a week.
L: Yes
Q: Do you go to maximum?
L: Yes every time.
Q: I know your best back squat is 280kg, and your best front squat is 255kg. Do you normally come close to those numbers?
L: I maybe will do according to my positions. If my positions are not good I have to think about my body condition.
Q: On an average day, when your position is good, what will you squat?
L: Normally, my front squat will touch 250kg and my back squat will touch 270kg.
Q: What about accessory exercises? In the training hall you did front rack holds with 320kg. Do you do that regularly in training?
L: Yes, this is one ways I train my chest strength. This is also one kind of training I use to train the jerk. I often do this in training.
Q: Is that the day you front squat?
L: Yes, I do this often, especially after squatting.
Q: For your career, what kind of goals do you have? Do you have numbers in mind, like a 200kg clean and jerk at 69, or other numbers?
L: I think that I can front squat 260kg, back squat maybe 285kg.
Q: What about the lifts in competition?
L: I try to break world records every year. This year improve one kilo, last year improve one kilo.
Q: Ok, so maybe 360 in Houston, 361 in Rio?
L: Yes.
Q: Do you plan on competing after Rio?
L: Yes, maybe possible.
Q: Maybe Asian games in 2018?
L: I will try my best.
Q: How old will you be in Rio?
L: 29.
Q: And Tokyo 33? So maybe not Tokyo…
L: That’s impossible (laughing).
Q: So after you retire from lifting, do you want to coach, or be involved in weightlifting?
L: Maybe, it’s possible. Just maybe I will want to coach and teach junior lifters. Yes, it’s a possibility.
Q: So no sure plans after weightlifting?
L: I also have other plans for after I retire. Maybe I will try to become an official of an association of the team, maybe I will want to be the boss of a company. I have many plans, I have not made decisions.
Q: What’s life like as a national Chinese weightlifter? How often do you leave the national training center on a everyday basis? Do you ever go out into Beijing, or are you normally in the national training center?
L: After 2 hours training, I will have enough time to get food and go outside of the training center and do things we want to do.
Q: Do you do that often?
L: After training sometimes, I will just sleep in my room, but sometimes I will go be social. Almost every day after training I will leave the training center and have some fun hours, especially at night.
Q: Do all athletes at the center have that freedom, or are you allowed because you’re a national champion, olympic champion, world record holder?
L: Almost all the member of the national team have this freedom.
Q: Do you eat out, or only at the national training center?
L: No, we eat only at the training center.
Q: Why?
L: Because we are national team, we have to care about the food. In China, some food is not so safe. So we have to ensure the food we eat is safe for them.
Q: So what does your diet look like? What do you eat?
L: Of course vegetables are my favorite and spicy ginger is my favorite food
Q: Do you try to eat a certain amount of protein every day, or do you just eat what you want?
L: What I like is what I eat.
Q: Is your typical training bodyweight around 74?
L: Yes, that is my maximum.
Q: How far out from a competition do you start to reduce food?
L: 10 days before competition I will start to control bodyweight.
Q: You said at the press conference that for five days prior to this meet, you ate very little food. Did you eat at all prior to this competition?
L: Just eat a little. If on a scale of 10 and 10 is maximum, I eat 1 or 2. For 5 days I will brush my teeth many times because I can’t eat so my mouth feels very dry.
Q: Do you drink water?
L: No, no water.
Q: Do you lose a lot of clean and jerk strength?
L: Yes, this can influence my strength, reduce my clean and jerk strength.
Q: What was your best clean and jerk in training for the month leading up to this event?
L: Before controlling the bodyweight my best is 210kg. That was almost 2 months before the competition. I will try to lift up to 210 maybe one time every week.
Q: In your whole career, how many times have you successfully clean and jerked 210kg?
L: 3 times.
Q: Is it the same with snatch? I know you have snatched at least 170kg. How many times have you done that?
L: My best snatch is 171. I have done more than 10 times in my career.
Q: So when you came to this competition were you hoping to break that 166kg record?
L: I want to lift 171 when I participate in the final competition of my career. I go up usually one kilogram but on the last competition of my career I will try 171.
Q: And what about the clean and jerk? 205?
L: I will try my best in the last competition.
Q: But no clean and jerk goal?
L: Maybe 201 or 202kg I will be happy.
Q: Other than Weibo, do you use any social media?
L: I don’t often use often, just before competition.
Q: So you don’t spend much time on the computer?
L: I mostly just use the computer to listen to songs. I will not spend too much time on the computer.
Q: Are you a fan of any non-Chinese lifters?
L: I watch only myself.
Q: So you don’t have any weightlifting idols outside of China?
L: No, my idol is myself.
Q: Are you a fan of any other sports? Do you like football or basketball? Do you support any teams?
L: I like some extreme sports, and maybe Grand Prix. I will watch the world cup for football but no more. I will not watch a normal football or basketball game.
Q: Which team are you supporting at the world cup?
L: Brazil. I think the competition when Germany won 7-1 the German team was not good.
Q: Do the new Anta shoes feel similar to the Nike Romaleos that you used to wear?
L: They’re almost the same with the Nike. The new shoe is very good to me. And they make the new shoes according to my advice.
Q: Just your advice or other athletes as well?
L: Mostly me.
